Tonight at the Uralla Historical Society’s Christmas bbq, I met a local gentleman named Owen Croft. When I asked him if there was a Welsh connection, he said yes, he was Sir Owen Croft, head of the Croft family world-wide, and a direct descendant of Morfudd, Owain’s sister, who married Sir Richard Croft. He kindly declined my offer to help him learn Welsh.

It is a very small world.

I presume you have a descendent of Anthony Ashley Cooper, Earl of Shaftesbury playing for the Wallabies, unless he’s retired!!

ps. Maybe the Aussie Crofts don’t want to encourage haunting. I believe Owain Glyndwr is said to haunt their castle in Herefordshire, now run by the National Trust!
