Worth pointing out also that oedd, not wnaeth, is always used with adjectives, as well as with the verbs gwybod and hoffi.
Actually, shouldn’t it be roedd? Thought oedd was the interrogative, not the affirmative.
ISTR this being discussed in other threads quite recently, and the consensus seemed to be that in speech, either was acceptable, and in fact oedd would probably sound more natural nowadays.
