New learner - Clyro

I’ve just completed Challenge 4 - with some difficulty, but I have taken to heart Aaron’s warnings about seeking perfection - and before I marked it as ‘done’, I noticed that I hadn’t left a question on the forum, so here it is: I’m finding the pronunciation of ‘Mae dal rhaid i fi’ tricky, it’s the ‘i fi’. Sometimes I think I’m hearing , ‘iv-ee’, sometimes ‘ov-ee’ and even ‘eve-ee’. Can you help please? Diolch yn fawr! John

Welcome John

i is usually pronounced as ee and fi is pronounced as vee, so your “eve-ee” is correct, although some dialects will sound like your “iv-ee” too. If you have any local Welsh speakers you can listen to, as your ears tune in you’ll get to know which is most prevalent in that area so you can stick with that, but don’t worry too much about it - both will be understood.
