Course three, lesson 14. At about 11:15.
My friend’s father…
my reply: (phonetic) Ma tad o frind
What I am hearing: Ma tad Fa frind
Am I hearing, or saying it, incorrectly?

Are you hearing: “my friend’s father is…” - which is “mae tad fy ffrind”?
Wouldn’t:

tad o frind
[/quote]reduce to “Father of a friend”? You need the “Fy” before “Ffrind” to show that it’s “My friend” and the “o” is optional, just as in English one might say, “My friend’s father” or “The father of my friend”.
I’d guess it’s this…
Yes. Thanks. I also think I was getting stuck on “my friend”
That makes sense now. Diolch!
