I was lucky, my mom worked for an airline so I was able to travel a lot and see other people, places, and cultures when I was young. They never had the chance, even if they had wanted it. Not excusing it at all, but I have tried to find compassion, even for them.

I really do think your mum’s job gave you a huge advantage. My parents tried to travel with me as much as possible, and I did the same with my son. I think getting out of your own space and meeting people from other cultures can go a long way towards making you a more tolerant person in general.
