Working through Level 3 and noticed that where I would say mae eisiau sometimes it becomes sydd eisiau - could someone explain please?

In the English translation, if the mae would come straight after a who/which/that, you need to replace it with sydd/sy. If it’s not preceded by a who/which/that, it stays as mae.

And sydd provides a link "who needs "so you can extend a sentence so Mae falls away.
My understanding is that sydd is the plural form of sy. Hari sy yma and Hari a ei frind sydd yma.
No, sy is just a shortening of sydd - they are both exactly the same, no difference for plurals or singulars.
