I have just finished Level 1-25 and not very confident that i have absorbed enough ,should be at 2-29 and I am struggling to keep up. i still cannot stop using the Pause button to get the sentences out a lot of the words are there but not quick enough. I am doing the exercises and My partner fluent Welsh speaker is helping but it seems less and less is sinking in and forgetting too much. I am not very computer savvy and cannot get to grips with the forum as well. I am not at the stage of giving up as i do want to get there i knew it wouldnât be easy but didnât realize how difficult and frustrating it would be.it has taken me the best part of 30mins just to get this message out.
Donât be hard on yourself Tony - completing Level 1 is a big achievement! What you describe is by no means unusual, but there is absolutely no reason to feel you have to âkeep upâ - there is no deadline and itâs fine to go at your own pace. You can always ask for a pause in the weekly course emails if it feels youâre being overwhelmed, and then pick them up again later.
Although itâs recommended to try not to use the pause button, there are plenty of people who canât get by without it. The thing to remember is that you donât have to get everything perfect before moving on, and there are lots of posts on the forum where people have explained how theyâve coped (if you click on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the page here and put âpause buttonâ in the search box that comes up, youâll see loads of threads about it - some of the comments on those might help).
There will be lots of times when your brain hasnât quite finished processing information, but that doesnât mean itâs not going in - just that itâs not quite ready to come out again on your tongue! One of the many things us humans are not very good at is noticing how much we can do, whereas weâre very good at spotting how much we think we canât do, so try not to let that get to you - as i said, if youâve completed Level 1 youâve already come a huge way and thereâs no âshould be atâ needed - itâs your journey at your pace and yes, there are people in front but there are also people behind, and you donât all have to arrive at your destination at the same time!
Hi Tony
Donât worry you are doing fantastic. You have done level 1. I often donât remember the previous challenge or challenges phrases. What helped me was do challenges 1,2 and 3 then going back to 1 again. Usually by then I was ahead of the timed space to say it.so would do 2, 3 and 4 . You could say its the same as using the pause button.
There is no time limit on any learning. I have been learning for over 20 years. You are picking it up but its just not so noticeable to yourself at the moment. Do it at what helps/suits you.
Another way I manage is just listen to the challenges without trying to repeat the phrases. I would get used to the words. It was another way of working my listening skills.
Keep at it, You will succeed!!
If you need any help on the forum just ask. There are lots of learners/welsh speakers willing to help.
Diolch Siaron . will keep up the learning just need to practice more.
Thanks for the boost need to practice more conversations with with my partner.
