I think that I am getting on alright but this challenge took a while and am now managing most of it. Over the challenges I am not sure when ‘the’ is ‘er’ or ‘mein’. Any suggestions please. Thank you
the = y (or yr before a vowel or 'r after a vowel)
mae’n = is the present form of bod, so there is/it is/he is/she is (and maen is ‘they are’)
so mae’r would the “the …… is”, with the 'r = ‘the’ and the mae = ‘is’
Does that help?

Thank you. I think that helps a lot. However I think I have heard ‘ma’ at times instead of y. For example in the translation of the young man.

Mae’r often shortens in speech to “ma” - the ‘the’ is there in the ears of the Welsh speaking listener even though it’s been shortened out by the speaker (just something that comes with practise!). That might be what you’re hearing.
