In this lesson when they say “we all thought that they should” instead of on in meddwl bod dylen nhw they have now introduced on in meddwl y dylen nhw. Can someone please explain when you use bod and when not?

Bod is used for ‘that’ if the second half of the sentence, on its own, would have used the present tense of bod ie dwi’n, mae fe, dych chi etc
If the second half uses another tense eg would, should, did etc - then ‘y’ is the default choice.
Although you’d be lucky to catch it in a regular conversation - unless someone it talking quite formally - nevertheless, in theory, it’s there.
