Please could someone explain why gwneud is shortened to wneud in the following:

“I wouldn’t do it if I were you” “Fydden i ddim yn wneud e 'sen i’n ti” (07:13)

when the next sentence uses gwneud:

“I wouldn’t do that again if I were you” “Fydden i ddim yn gwneud hynny eto 'sen i’n ti” (07:24)

I would have thought both sentences would use gwneud. Is it just how it’s said colloquially or is there a reason?

The difference is because in the first sentence, you are referring to an ‘it’ and in the second you are referring to a ‘that’.

In the first one, the full ‘it’ bit is “ei wneud e” - the ei sometimes gets left out, but the mutation it causes stays. There’s no ei in the second sentence because there’s no ‘it’, so there’s no mutation.
