Level 1 course - southern

Getting withdrawal symptoms!! When can we expect lessons 24 and 25 to be available?

I’m only on Lesson 12 (just about to start) but keep checking for Lessons 24 & 25. Mind you, I’m going to go back and kick on with the Level 1 Vocab units & Course 2 at whatever point I get to the end anyway - in addition to watching S4C Rygbi & Sgorio of course!!!

Have to say that the speed of development is way quicker in Level 1 than it was in Course 1 - very noticeable. Not sure what to do with my 8 year old, who wants to get back into it. Think the old course might be a bit easier for her but we’ll see.

Cat and Iestyn have done wonders catching up as much as they have (Cat’s still in a lot of pain, and has started working again), but it’s still challenging for them - and particularly so over the Easter holidays, when they have 4 lively kids around the house needing herding/entertainment - but once Easter is survived, you should have a fighting chance of getting more new material before too much longer :sunny:

@welshspringbok - I’d love to hear how it goes with your girl - it’s very interesting indeed that she actively wants to pick it up again :sunny:

Fully appreciate the challenges that Cat and Iestyn have. They have done an amazing job, as have you, in developing courses which enable us punters to acquire a language at a far quicker rate than would ever normally be possible. (I sound like an SSiW sales ad. there!).

Will see how things go with Kaitlyn. It’ll be another week before we can get started as I am heading to Poland first thing tomorrow morning. However, when I return she has said that she wants to give Course 1 a crack, so it will be interesting to see how she copes with having extended sentences at such an early part of the course. Might be useful feedback for you guys as well if you are ever thinking of developing a course specifically for kids.

It definitely, definitely will be! :sunny: :star:

Sorry to hear about Cat. I didn’t know she was having problems. I hope they’re sorted out soon. Thanks.

She’s had Caudina Equina syndrome for quite a while now, and hasn’t even been able to sit for more than a very short time - there’s no reason for you to have been aware of that, but it is why we don’t want to put any pressure on in terms of developing the southern course.

I know that must be frustrating when you want to push on with it, and I’m very sorry for that, and very grateful for your patience and support in the meantime. :sunny:

So sorry to hear that Aran. Cat’s health is by far the most important thing and we trust and pray that there will be a rapid improvement in her condition.

I got back from a fantastic trip to Poland last night and have been immediately accosted by Kaitlyn for Welsh lessons, so tomorrow we will get started again. I’ll kick off with Course 1 and see how she copes and provide feedback on how it is going.

Thanks very much for your kind words - I know Cat and Iestyn are doing everything they can, and she’s back to doing some part-time work with BT - they’re not the kind of people to give up in the face of a challenge, however daunting it might be.

Fantastic news - I’ll look forward hugely to hearing how this goes!

We’ve just kicked off with the first few minutes of Lesson 1 - a few mistakes as she likes to start sentences with Dwi’n even if it is not required and occasional mixing up of words which is to be expected when she hasn’t done it for a while. Dysgi is the only new word so far and she has embraced that fine. When we come back to it later, if I remember correctly, we’ll start to see the real test as the sentences start to grow in length.

Just make sure she really ‘gets’ that there is no such thing as a mistake - that every single time she tries to say something and then hears something, she’s getting better and learning more :sunny:
