Learn another language through Welsh

Hi all. This is some way off for me just yet but I’m intrigued by the idea of eventually learning Spanish or French through the medium of Welsh.

Have tried googling etc but to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks

Bit of a stretch. Easy through SSi in English though as similar Prompts and the Spanish is’nt far off the English. For example - nesesito for I need - pretty straight forward. i’m not sure about spelling.

However if you want to go straight from Welsh to another language, compare the SSiWelsh answers to say, SSiCornish. I did it with SSi Manx, which isn’t even a Brithonic language but closer to Welsh than it is to English.

Then in turn, I am now learning Scottish Gaelic with the SSiManx in the back of my head, which helps. There’s no SSi Scottish Gaelic but I have been able to work out some Scottish sentences from the Manx. Doesn’t always work sentence for sentence but sometimes it does.

So what I’m trying to say is, Welsh is good for learning Celtic languages mainly.

I’m not sure how far it got, but I have seen at least one challenge of SSiS from Welsh. I didn’t follow it up because I don’t want to learn Spanish at present. I’ll see if I can find it again.

With luck this should get you there.

Diolch yn fawr iawn both :slightly_smiling_face:

Not quite what you;re looking for but there’s currently a series of YouTube Welsh lessons via the medium of Spanish organised by Menter Patagonia here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70i1BrzfzRM - I guess, knowing the Welsh it might be possible to use it backwards, as it were, to learn some Spanish :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you - that sounds really interesting but probably beyond my capabilities
