So we have different ways of saying laeth a siwgr here is another example of what I was taught at school being different. I was taught ll-i-th which is said once on the south Welsh challenge 13 level 2 but ll-a-th is said.
And I was taught sug-ŵr but thry say sug-ger
If you understand my attempts at spelling out the pronunciation. So which one should I use? Which one do u use or hear often? I’d love to know more about the different pronunciations of certain words.
Diolch.
There are lots of words that have varying pronounciations (the differences can be quite strong between north/south/east/west, between counties, or indeed between one village and the next!) and it really doesn’t matter which pronounciation you use - use whichever one you’re most comfortable with or, if you wish, try to cultivate the one you hear most often in your vicinity.
