Imperfect tense (I was, you were etc)

When I was taught the imperfect tense it was, “ron’i, ro ti, roedd e/hi,” etc… Then when asking a question the “R” was dropped, as it also would be when answering a question. However I notice that SSiW drops the “r” even in the statement form of the verb.

First of all does this cause any confusion, and second would you also use this form (ie dropping the “r”) when writing something?

Dropping the r is perfectly fine for spoken language and won’t lead to any confusion. In case of written speech I’d say it largely depends on the level of formality you are aiming for (i.e. a text message to a friend versus an official letter to a lawyer).
