Really puzzling over when to use “Mae rhaid ifi…” and when to use “gorfod”

Any guidance, please

I would say the first is something like, I must go to the shops, I have to go to the shops, whereas the second is I’m forced to go the shops. It feels like a certain distinction in the amount of compulsion. But I’m absolutely prepared to be corrected about this.

I don’t think there is actually that much difference in a lot of cases - Rhaid i fi fynd nawr or dw i’n gorfod mynd nawr feel pretty much the same to me, but I think it’s more common in everyday Welsh to use Rhaid i fi
