Ooh, looking forward to this!
Those things should now all be live on staging ![]()
And in fact we should now be live on the main site at www.saysomethingin.app/words ![]()
I’m gunning for Scotland next ![]()
Thank you to everyone who is sending us reports - I’m starting to sense that the ‘none of these is correct’ option is becoming a ‘running out of time and feeling rage’ option - so we’ve added a ‘GOD I don’t KNOW’ option for you as well ![]()
Particularly grateful for our first German report, @Lea, I hope I’ve fixed that!
[So as of now, we’d be delighted if you felt like sharing this!]
I started conquering Scotland this morning. Logged back in to show one of my granddaughters my new plaything. I note the “keep going” is greyed out (or at least doesn’t do anything when clicked) - can’t continue. One to investigate? Screen shot attached
I can access some stuff via the Build option though.
I think I’ve seen it that colour, but not refusing to do anything when you click… I’ll look into it! diolch
And particularly thanks for the screenshot, that is such a massive time saver ![]()
I think you should deal with the issues where there are two potential answers that are both correct, because that’s a bit demotivating.
I’ve been caught out a few times by synonyms, where I’m like “Oh, I suppose the Welsh could mean that, yes, I can see how that works”, and that’s frustrating in a way, but I’m also learning something so it’s good.
Interesting - I haven’t seen any with more than one correct answer yet - if you can remember any of them, I can go and hunt ![]()
I quite enjoy the synonym range - feels somehow as if it’s making the Welsh words wider, or more colourful somehow. Even though it certainly can trigger moments of frustration!
I think the only one I’ve seen is the pronoun/possessive pronoun mix up that Sara mentioned. But tbh, I just click on everything to make sure I’ve answered before the timer runs out, so I may have missed stuff.
Fair dos, I’m killing the hi/ei choice now ![]()
I haven’t done much Welsh in it (yet!), because I wanted to get a feel for the game first in a language where I can judge the answers with complete confidence. So these are just first impressions, mostly from German.
Since you asked for examples: I’ve had one in German. The prompt was “some”, and I picked etwas, but the answer it wanted was einige. Both are fine translations. Etwas is “some” as in “a bit of”, and einige is “some” as in “several”. Languages just don’t map one-to-one onto each other, which I suppose is part of the fun ![]()
The trouble is that I only realised both were possible after I’d answered. When you get one wrong, the correct answer only shows for about a second before the next word comes up. So by the time I noticed, it was too late to click “none of these is correct” (which also isn’t the correct choice in that case if we’re being pedantic
). Could the game pause after a wrong answer, maybe with a “continue” button and a “flag this” option? That would let you look at the answer properly and report the ambiguous ones. It would probably catch more of these than people remembering them afterwards.
One more thing, and it’s not really a bug: in German, some English words have lots of possible meanings, but the German answer is quite specific. For example, “writ” → gerichtliche Verfügung. That’s not wrong, but out of context it’s not necessarily the first thing that comes to mind.
Oh, that sounds like a bug - thank you! - it’s meant to stop after you get a word wrong until you click ‘carry on’ (or something).
Yes, the natural mismatches feel like part of the fun
I’m finding some of the ‘oh, yes, I hadn’t thought of that context’ ones in Welsh very entertaining.
Thank you so much for testing it ![]()
This is great, Aran! Diolch yn fawr iawn, am gêm wych!!
I’ve filled in the Draig Goch already, even though many words are new to me, and after a while, the brain-to-finger connection gets a bit a over the place. ![]()
I love this game. Ready to fill in Lloegr rŵan. ![]()
Taggin @james-cuff-1 in this thread, because he has some very useful vocabulary lists that could be woven into this really nicely…
Delighted to hear that Kerstin! Wow, that was fast on Wales - I’m really glad to have someone else join me in filling in England ![]()
Croeso, diolch yn fawr!
Dw i’n gwneud “bootcamp dysgu” ar hyn o bryd,
achos mae fy mhartner a fi’n mynd i symud o Lundain i’r Gogledd yn fuan. Fedra i ddim aros!! ![]()

Paid a dweud! Lle yn y Gogledd? ![]()
Gosh, we had 100 new players sign up yesterday! That’s fun.
Does anyone want to volunteer to help deal with the ‘none of these are correct’ flags in the languages I don’t speak (which is really everything apart from Welsh!)? It’s pretty easy, we have a control panel for it, and you can check/edit them pretty quickly - and once you’ve checked or edited once, that word pair counts as confirmed and won’t come back as a flag again ![]()
