There’s a great article and a very kind hat-tip to SSiW from Trey, one of only two real contenders for the ‘Beardiest SSiWer’ award, here on the BBC:
I really hope we can get someone with some access to cash strings to realise, one of these days, that promoting Welsh lessons abroad is the best way (by a country mile) to encourage people to want to visit Wales…
Trey, your video (linked in that article) is fantastic. You really have a gift for presentation as well as for writing. And I agree with your message: Wales is underpromoted abroad, especially compared to Scotland and Ireland. All those “Celtic Festivals” with one little table or so from the local Welsh society…
By the way, I’m from Alabama, and have repeatedly told people that I see a lot of similarities between Wales and the US South, too.
Absolutely fantastic, Trey! One question - I thought I knew Caernarfon well but Llety Arall is something entirely new to me - can you point me to a website?
Hefyd, sgen ti barf gwych…
And nicely done getting a link to SSiW on the BBC News site! I just had a look at the server logs and I can see the people who have been clicking through, a few of whom have since created accounts
Totally agree with the masses here, that’s a great video Trey, and your relaxed presentation makes you a natural in front of the camera.
Do I see an Tour Somewhere in Welsh business starting soon? Touring Wales and learning the language at the same time ending with a bus full of satisfied, tired Welsh speaking Americans.
Gyda llaw, Trey’s thick ginger facial furniture is far more impressive than my greying whispy effort. I’ll happily take the silver medal.
Wow, thanks everyone for your kind remarks. I clearly don’t spend enough time on the forum. Yes, one of the people behind Llety Arall is at Palas Prints, though I didn’t get to meet him. It’s a really neat idea, and I think it will be really successful too.
