Gorfod or rhaid?

Could someone please explain when to use gorfod or Rhaid to say “must”? Are they interchangeable?
Diolch my fawr

I’d say they are interchangeable, just use the one you prefer. Note that the construction is a bit different:
Mae’n rhaid i fi fynd -> Dw i’n gorfod mynd (I have to go.)

Thats very helpful, thank you

Indeed - as @louis has correctly clarified, rhaid is either obligation or supposition, while gorfod is only the former. For obligation they are indeed, as @Hendrik said, interchangeable though with different constructions.

…and this is very well explained in Gareth’s excellent “Working Welsh”, as are so many other practicalities of the beautiful Welsh language…

Another verb helps visualise this

Gorfodi (separate verb) - means

To compel/coerce and force something or someones…

Gorfod therefore a much more harder or stricter ‘must’ than the all rounder ‘rhaid’
