I just started to learn welsh and I find it difficult to understand when for example, to try is trio then it changes to ddrio, the same as want dw in moyn becomes on in moyn, there’s quite a few like that could you explain
why this happens

It’s known as a mutation, all Celtic languages are similar. So “t” can change to “d” under certain circumstances. It is a softening of sounds. Something similar to English Knife → knives, but for a different reason. There are rules, but it’s easier to just soak in the sound patterns for now in order to be able to speak quickly. Many welsh speakers don’t actually know the rules themselves but are totally fluent.

on in moyn = I wanted (I was wanting)
