Flashcard apps

Does anyone here use a flashcard app? If so, where do you get your flashcards from?

I’m in the planning stages of my next vocab builder ebook, which will be about British mammals, and I’m going to run a small crowdfunder to cover the costs of illustrations and editing. Unlike Adar yr Ardd, I cannot find all the illustrations I need on Canva, so I’m going to have to buy them in from marvellous illustrator that I’ve found.

I’m thinking about what I can do as rewards for supporters – the epub ebook obviously, and an exclusive PDF version, as well as a bundle of both Mamaliaid Prydeinig and Adar yr Ardd.

But would flashcards also be useful? If so, just text only, or text and images?

What about things like computer wallpapers or avatars?

I’ll also look into recording audiobook versions, but will have to find a Welsh voice actor for that, I think.

I use AnkiApp, and I create all cards myself. I make one deck a week with all the new words i encountered that week (that i find useful to learn). It’s a lot of work, but I notice that looking up etymologies etc greatly increases the likelihood that I remember certain words.

I would think that flashcards are quite personal, so I’m not too sure if they are a great reward. I mean, there are great proponents of the text&images (without translation) cards, while I do prefer text-only two-language cards. However, I also generally dislike wallpapers and avatars as reward, so maybe I’m just the wrong person to answer this

Thanks, CalonGoch-Felen! Actually, it’s very useful to hear that you make your own.

I had sort of assumed, from the lack of response to the topic, that perhaps people just don’t really use flashcard apps, so had somewhat abandoned the idea anyway!
