You definitely don’t have to bring loads of cash. All the booths and stalls that I have seen accept cards. And even if you find yourself in need of cash, there usually is a cash point on the maes, normally near the food area.
Sometimes german “ec”-cards are rejected, so your safer bet is a credit card. So far I haven’t had problems paying with my VISA card.

Note that it charges for withdrawals though. If there is an ATM with free withdrawals on your way to the maes and you need cash, it’s a good idea to stop there when you can.

It’s nearly time… Are you ready?
In just over a week, we’ll be opening the doors of the Maes to over 175,000 visitors from all over Wales and Eisteddfod Wrecsam will begin! With all kinds of gigs and concerts, performances from Wales’ best artists and a wide variety of literature, dance and science, there’s a noticeable excitement in the air!
We’re really looking forward to performing our new choir concert, Y Stand, for the first time. The star of the show is the young actress, Cadi Glwys, granddaughter of Dai Davies, the goal keeper who played for Wrecsam and Wales in the 1970s, and there’s an incredible creative team behind the show, including Osian Williams (Candelas) and Manon Steffan Ros (previous winner of the Drama Medal and Prose Medal). Bring your voice. Bring your heart. Come and experience Y Stand.
Also, don’t forget about our Cymanfa Ganu on Sunday night, which is an opportunity to sing some hymn favourites and hear from Wales International Leader, Maxine Hughes.
Want to avoid long queues? Book your ticket ahead of time so that you can start enjoying the festival straight away.
If you’re travelling to the Maes by public transport or in a car, you can find all the information you need - including details of the free shuttle bus running from the train station and city bus station to the Maes - on our website.
If you need a little support with your Welsh, or know someone who would like to listen to a session or two in English, head over to our translation centre, outside the Pavilion.

A last minute appeal from the Eisteddfod organisers! Can anyone help?
Hello everyone,
The Wrecsam National Eisteddfod is almost here, and we’re reaching out to ask for some last-minute help as we prepare everything for the week.
Do you have a few hours to spare on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday? If so, would you be willing to help us welcome stallholders and those rehearsing for ceremonies and the show to the Maes?
We’re looking for a team of around 5 people to work with us during the following times:
- Wednesday 30 July: 08:00 – 13:30
- Wednesday 30 July: 14:00 – 19:00
- Thursday 31 July: 08:00 – 13:30
- Thursday 31 July: 14:00 – 19:00
- Friday 1 August: 08:00 – 13:30
- Friday 1 August: 14:00 – 19:00

Ynys glyd
We’ve developed an inclusive area for families in the Pentref Plant (Children’s Village). The ynys glyd offers children with additional needs a quiet space so that they can feel part of the Eisteddfod, without too much noise and bustle around them.

I’d love to catch up Hishiv, but I’m not going to the Eisteddfod this year. I’m sure you’ll have a great time! And da iawn ti for volunteering!
That sounds good @Hishiv! In reach of life’s most important ingredient. Do you know where you’ll be because you’re doing a more specialised role?
I’m doing the basic stewarding, so I think we only find out where we’ll be when we show up before our shift.
I’m volunteering through my work, rather than directly with the Eisteddfod. I work for Welsh Government, who sponsor the tent in Maes D

The numbers are looking positive for adult learners, but what is happening in the schools? This was a discussion held at the Eisteddfod on Tuesday.

A new short documentary has been released on S4C’s YouTube account that follows Israel Lai, a young man from Hong Kong, who’s learnt Welsh in 3 years and visits the Eisteddfod for the first time asking: Is he Welsh enough to be in the Eisteddfod?

Strange: yesterday I was able to view it (but I was busy). Now it has been made unavailable outside of the UK (or, at least, to Belgium)? 
Unavailable in Spain either - I watched it yesterday, but I probably had my VPN turned on.
I’ve let Sam Rhys know that and asked if there’s anything he can do about it.
Strangely, it apparently still works in the app on my phone - just not on the web version in my browser

Yn anffodus mater I S4C ydy hyn – mae’n rhaid fod nhw wedi geo-blocio I’r Deyrnas Unedig yn unig am resymau cytundebol.
Unfortunately, it’s a decision by S4C. They must have geo-blocked it to only the UK for contract reasons.
I’ll double-check with them now that’s it’s been done on purpose…
