Disappointed in you SSiW! Welsh flag

Just had a post from SSiW pop up on my feed on Facebook. Spreading the recent canard (rather than old canard) about the Welsh flag only being “Official” since 1959. The Welsh flag has been the Welsh flag through common usage since at least the beginning of the twentieth century, if not before. The British establishment didn’t like it, and tried to push other flags (with no mention of them being "national flags, of course) along with other “special songs” [rather than a ‘national anthem’ like “God Bless the Prince of Wales” instead of the real national anthem. [Again, which was the real national anthem by common usage.]) By 1959 it was obvious that the British establishment’s position was a lost cause, so they issued a decree saying that the Draig Goch should be flown from government buildings rather than the silly banners they had before. There was no mention of it being “officially” the Welsh national flag. And even if there was, it wouldn’t be that we should measure it by. It was completely irrelevant. It didn’t mention the Welsh flag being “official”, it was only because they were forced into it because their position was ridiculous, and at the time no one even noticed. It’s only recently that history has been altered, rewritten and come up with this. It’s embarrassing that a lot of Welsh sites push this. Come on SSiW, you’re better than this!
