Dim ond yn ddiweddar - recently

Here’s a sentence from a text that i am studying:
“Dim ond yn ddiweddar dechreuodd hi ddysgu Cymraeg”

In everyday conversation is it necessary to use the “dim ond”? Can you just say “yn ddiweddar” to translate recently?

e.g. Cafodd e gwaith newydd yn ddiweddarr (He got a new job recently)

It is if you want to say ‘only recently’, yes…

The dim ond bit means only - Only recently she started…

Cafodd e waith newydd yn ddiweddar - you need SM after the subject e

P.S. The predictive text changed it to “synod”! That changes the meaning a little bit, eh?!haha

You can have andros as well Andrea - no extra charge (though very gog!)

Mae’n fforwm andros o dda
