I am finding it impossible to download the weekly or daily listening practices onto iTunes or my iPod. I have had no trouble with the main lessons, but my computer does not recognise the format of the listening practices, and although I can play them on my PC if I open the files with Windows Media, they will not transfer onto my iPod at all.
Anyone else had the same problem? Any solutions?
I mostly learn while driving or walking the dog and do not have alot of time to sit by my PC.
Any help appreciated, Bernice
I gather iTunes can be oddly fussy sometimes, although I know nothing about it - the files are just mp3 files, so there’s no problem there. Have you been able to add other mp3 files to iTunes?
If you haven’t done that before, here’s what looks like a fairly good walk through the process:
Hope it helps…
I tried it now. I downloaded the current weekly practice session, and I was able to add it to iTunes and my old iPod in the normal way.
Try this. Find the file wherever you downloaded it (usually the downloads folder) right click on the file and “open with… iTunes”.
Aran - it would be very very useful if the info on the file was consistent. It doesn’t matter when listening online as we don’t see the info of the mpeg. But when added to iTunes, or whatever software used, it would be great if “artist” “composer” “album” etc was the same. Have your own name as composer and artist on all Northern related. It would help when sorting and keeping files in order when there are a lot more files from different artists and genres on my iTunes.

Yeah, sorry about that - at the moment, we’re trying to make sure that everything new comes out properly standardised, and we will in due course work our way back through all the old material…

You can, if you want to, change this information yourself, in a way or system that helps you identify the file.
I also use iTunes for my lessons (for when the app plays up - which it hasn’t since the last fix for iOS 7 ) and changed the names of the files, added artist name, album name etc, so it all looks tidy on iTunes and is easy to find on my iPhone. It’s quite easy to do and can take around 5-10 mins depending on how many files you’re playing with!

Yes, I do do that.
