The main difference is that the lessons are prerecorded in chunks of ~30 minutes. Automagic covers the same material, but presented dynamically. The server tracks you progress and your time spent learning and it will show you a mixture of new building blocks and random repeats of known material, so the method of spaced repetition stays the same. But due to the dynamic nature (and a setting that influences how often you get shown new stuff), you have more control of how fast you progress, and you can easily pause and pick up learning as you like.
An important technical difference is that, for the time being, you need an active internet connection for Automagic to work, while the challenges can be listened to while offline once you have them downloaded to your device.
You can always try it out and see for yourself… if you don’t like it, you can switch back to the pre-recorded lessons.
