Difference - dw i or nes i?

Hello! I have seen a similar question and gathered the answer was really not to worry … I just would like to satisfy my brain by asking …

Why is it nes i wylio and nes i gyfarfod instead of
dw i? Also - is nes from gneud?

Thank you!
Julie

Yes Julie, nes is from gneud and using it is one of the ways to express past tense. Dw i is present tense.

Dw i’n gwylio = I am watching
Nes i wylio = I did watch (I watched)

Although “I did watch” sounds wrong in English, it’s perfectly acceptable in Welsh
