Ddudodd pawb wrthaf fi *y* byddai fo’n licio…:

Hi,

I’m on Level 1 Challenge 21 Northern at the moment and I’ve got a (probably dumb) question about the above phrase: what’s there ‘y’ doing in there?

In other ‘she told me that…’ expressions with non-conditional verbs, ‘that’ seems to be translated by ‘bod/fod’.

So, is ‘y’ here simply ‘that + conditional’, or is something else happening?

Many thanks,

David

yes
‘that’ = bod/fod only in the present tense, so in past, future and conditional tenses ‘that’ = y
