There is a weekend for learners in Bethesda at the begining of September run by Cymdeithas Cymraeg . Has anyone been on one of these weekends? How does it compare with a bootcamp? Do they have a Welsh only rule - this would be good. I’m up to the end of level 3 would I cope? It says canolradd/uwch level.
Hi @amandalaing , I went to the one that they organised last year in Bethesda and I really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. There were lot of varied , fun and interesting activities that we did on the weekend and it is very laid back and organised by fantastic people. It would be pretty much expected that people would speak Welsh all weekend which is of course a good thing
Don’t worry at all about not being able to cope. There were people there with varying abilities and no one is expected to be completely fluent. Im sure if you are on level 3 of SSIW then you will be fine. I would recommend it and am considering going to it again this September too . If there is anything else you would like to know then feel free to ask
Brilliant thanks I’ll definitely book then.
I have booked!. It says B&B, what does everyone do about other meals? How many first language speakers lead it?
Here’s the poster with the information. I’m sure they’ll be happy to answer any questions, but you can also ask on Facebook Penwythnos Dysgwyr - Bethesda if you use it.
When I arrived on the Friday evening , we settled down to a lovely home made stew that one of the leaders had made. There is plenty of stuff to have for breakfast such as eggs , toast , cereal etc. On the Saturday we had lunch in the local cafe and in the evening we had a well priced meal in the local Indian restaurant. We were due to have a picnic on the Sunday but it was raining.
People tended to bring their own beer / wine / snacks and share them around with everyone else .
There were a few first language / fluent speakers from Cymdiethas yr Iaith there throughout the weekend
I’m planning on booking – it looks/sounds good. I found a specific page for it with the same information as the poster, and a couple of contacts for further information:
