Cwpan Rygbi'r Byd - 2015 - Rugby World Cup

Referees seem to be in their own world at times trying to work out the rules well I never been good at that as I said it seems to be with the rules being the way they are I not sure if the game is improving or not. Quarter finals time is approaching and this is where the rubber will meet the road, I think that Argentina , and France and maybe Ireland are yet to make a statement. It will be all interesting can’t wait anything can happen in a tournament like this and with a big game again on Sunday all looks interesting again. Lots of people feel the All blacks have had and easy road and that they may not be ready for the big games , I feel that things such as that are up to how well a team prepares and what I know is that the All blacks have learned from past world cups that you need to take one game at a time and the team that has been selected have the ability to adapt to the demand of big games. That is where selections need to be right there are skill factors that are required and we have left some damn good players behind due to the fact that the selectors thinking is that they don’t have the required skill factors that are going to be demanded of this tournament however, that is in the selectors eyes. All will be revealed as to the accuracy of our selections i’m sure.

Anyone who thinks the All Blacks are daft enough to sit around and just expect to win definitely needs their head examined!!! :grinning:

Agreed. There’s no easy way in rugby lately …

Last night, I began to wonder!!! But the All Blacks did wake up eventually!!
I noticed that, at the end of the first half, there was a virtual repeat of the situation at the equivalent stage of Georgia vs Namibia. The All Blacks didn’t get a penalty try, but this time, the commentator clearly thought they should have!! I’d say Georgia had more penalties awarded before the Namibian was sent off. Also, the Blacks weren’t disadvantaged by the penalty causing uncontested scrums at that point, so I still feel Georgia had an even better case for a penalty try!!

I still think the All blacks have some work to do i’m a bit concerned about the scrum and now with Tony Woodcock out this will be a time where we will need to step up, not a bad game against Tonga who gave us a good battle . Good win for the Wallabies showing a lot of composure under pressure however, if Wales can come thru with less injuries I still think they will have a statement to make further. I don’t believe they are finished yet. great stuff.

Yah, I don’t believe either although this next upcomming with Springboks will be even tougher I believe. As far as I know them they’re rough, roo rough sometimes … and we’re injured quite a lot …

Howdver in this Championship this year, no one is unbeatable not even AllBlacks and everything is possible. All teams are fearless, ready to opose and do their best and for the Ausys, I’d say they’re completely new, kind of re-born, their defence is outstanding and they hardly let anyone through at least this was shown in today’s game against Cymru.

I know I’ve needed a big cup of :coffee: and a deeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppppppp breath, really.

Well surprise , surprise NZ meets France in the quarter finals um, I can hear the chuckles now as people await yet another exit by the All Blacks not that I think that, however, I can’t help but wonder how these draws are constructed. There has only been one world cup where we have not met France will be interesting, but hey what a game by Ireland and I think that they along with Argentina etc are yet to bring their best a long. This is it the quarter finals either in or out.

I have a notion of Blacks vs Wallabies in the finals, although Ireland impressed, which is why I tend to think Les Bleus are less of a threat this time! I continue to be impressed by Japan and keep remembering that proud old Welshman who brought them over. In Heaven, he watched ‘his boys’!! Also, I honestly think we need a system for promotion and demotion in European rugby. Georgia should be able to displace Italy if they are good enough, and I tend to think they are!! It would be good for us all for the wooden spoon to really be a threat!!! :warning:

Hi I don’t think that I would ever count out either France or South Africa, and Argentina a long with Ireland are yet to show their worth and of course Wales. Who lets face were not that far off on Sunday, therefore, I still see Wales as a threat.

I’m not sure I can really see any side that fails to score a single point while the opposition are down to 13 as ‘not that far off’, sadly…

But SA certainly play the right kind of game for Wales (me hit you! you hit me! me hit you! etc), so you never know.

Did anyone see the Superleague Grand Final? Even though neither side were at their best, it might do the Bois a bit of good to see the handling speed and imagination that went into breaking down tough defences. Great to see a genius of a 5’ 5, 10 st 6 scrumhalf like Rob Burrow in action with his mate, McGuire. Rob Bowen had a fantastic game for Wigan at the back too. Someone has to have a word with George about passing the ball now and then😀

I’m afraid I don’t watch darts. Or is that a greyhound thing?..;-p

Get used to it. Union gets more and more like League with every passing season. It’s no surprise that Australia could mount such an impressive defence with only 13 players, and it’s no surprise that our only form of attack was just to run straight into them.
Within five years I’d suggest that the IRB will have addressed the farce of the scrum by removing a couple of forwards - say the flankers.

I keep hoping they might ask a front rower and fix it by doing something simple - like, er, yellow cards for both props if their side of the scrum goes down (red card and one match ban for second offense). Shorter turnarounds at half-time would go a long way to dealing with the training for extra bulk instead of endurance, too.

There are times when I think that what you describe is inevitable. But then I watch in amazement as Matthew Morgan gets an actual World Cup cap for Wales and think it might just be avoidable…

Oh I cry inside! We are the land of Barry John!! And Shane Williams.. speed, side steps, skill..kicks with purpose and accuracy… and now it is all bish! bash! Bam! Kick it straight down the pitch… Fall on it!! Maul it 25 metres… I cry!!!

I think a bit of target fixation had set in by then!

I suspect with increasing bitterness that they were just trying to make Chris Robshaw feel better…

Wyt ti’n iawn? Gofynnodd hi
Nage! Undeg naw - Cymru -
De Affrica - Dauddeg tri!

Edited for spelling and I think ‘nage’ can be used, but not ‘na’. However, the rhythm is still wrong, but then the subject still makes me cry!!
