Cofio `Dolig Teulu Ni

From the gifts to the decorations, and from the television screen to the food on the dinner table, over the last hundred years the way we celebrate Christmas in Wales has been completely transformed. This is an opportunity for families to re-visit one Christmas day in the history of their family, and behind the tinsel and turkey, we will reveal the story and situation of their ancestors at the time. In this programme, two families re-create a Christmas Day from their family history - one family. This programme is available with English subtitles.

Y Dyn Nath Ddwyn Dolig 12:05

Released in 1985, Y Dyn Nath Ddwyn y Dolig (The Man Who Stole Christmas) is a Welsh language film produced and directed by Endaf Emlyn. The script and songs were written by Caryl Parry Jones and Hywel Gwynfryn, with additional music by Chris Winters. It was filmed on location in Cardiff.

The story follows Sera and her little sister Carys who go to the city to look for work. Sam Crosby, a rather odd man, offers them work and accommodation and very soon they are in the grip of some very dangerous men. Who is Sam? What is Mordecai’s plan? And the biggest question of all - will there be Christmas this year?

This ‘must see’ film will be shown on S4C on Christmas day at 12:05 and will then be available on Clic S4C’s online, on demand catch-up service.

In the meantime, advanced learners may want to whet their appetite with this podcast: Clic o’r Archif: Y Dyn Nath Ddwyn y 'Dolig and interview with the cast here: Y Dyn 'Nath Ddwyn y Dolig a Fi. Both these have English subtitles.
