Choir in Llanybydder looking for new members

One really good way to improve your pronunciation of Welsh is to join a choir that sings Welsh songs. There is a women’s choir in Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire who are looking for new members. If you live in the area, it’s also a great way to get to know local Welsh speakers.

Côr Lleisiau’r Werin, Llanybydder’s Welsh-medium Women’s choir, is looking for new members.

The choir, led by Elonwy Davies, sings folk songs, including well-known songs such as “Titw Tomos” and some lesser-known local songs about places in Ceredigion such as “Cwm Alltcafan”, “Cwm Tydi”, and the legendary “Cantre Gwaelod”, together with hymns and carols.

The group of around 20 women perform regularly in the village and beyond and raise money for local causes. We also have a lot of fun, build friendships and support each other.

We practice every Thursday evening, 7.30pm in Aberduar Chapel Vestry, Llanybydder.

If you enjoy singing and socialising, please come along and join us! Welsh learners will be made especially welcome. For more information, phone Elonwy on 01570 480129.
