Why is it oes for yes? I presume question would have been ‘Pam mor hen ŷ nhw?’ so wouldn’t yes be ydy?

Well spotted. But as it happens, the actual question is at 17:17, just before the answer. It is “Have you got children yourselves?” using “Oes” at the start of the question, so it is OK for you to answer using "Oes, " implying “Yes, we have…”
