I’m here to say a huge thank you to Aran and all the team for your amazing course. I’m on challenge 10 level 3 and I’ve been speaking Welsh with my Son daily and at work a bit etc but today I pushed myself to go to a grŵp siarad cymraeg in a local library. For 2 whole hours I talked and talked and talked in mostly Welsh. People were amazed how much I can say in Welsh despite not going to any groups nor traditional courses. A tutor from a local group was amazed by me and asking tons of questions (all in Welsh!) , she was encouraging me to think about doing exams! possibly not… But the fact that they were all so shocked at how much I can say and how positive about my speaking has been a MASSIVE confidence boost.
I just want to say that I feel I can only take part of the credit for this because it’s your course that’s got me where I am. As you can probably tell, I’m buzzing with excitement!
So an ENORMOUS thank you to all of you.
Kate
Ps. I hope you don’t mind but i’d like to recommend to both local NHS teams and North Wales Police to start thinking about buying into your program instead of the online courses they currently recommend? Maybe this is something you’re already looking into of course.
A whole two hours without sounding like a 4 year old (me at the moment) bendigedig! Well done indeed-and to be encouraged to take exams as well! Which one - talking to a farmer? I’ve heard that’s a tough one!
@aran @CatrinLliarJones this should really brighten your morning!
Well done @kate-davies! I remember coming back from bootcamp and going back to my mynediad course class and spent an hour talking to the teacher because no one else turned up that week and she was amazed and said what on earth has happened!
Fabulous sounds like you had a wonderful discovery of how much you could suddenly do too
Diolch yn fawr iawn! One of the members of the group may well have been a farmer:blush:, 2 locals came along for the first hour just to help us practice. Unbeknownst to me I was sat next to one of them and launched into a chatter! He was brilliant, spoke fast and slightly mumbly in proper rural Welsh but (I think) I understood about 60-70% of what he said! Actually maybe less but I followed the conversation which made me feel for a few seconds like I was a small amount of brilliant
(I hasten to say that I’m not brilliant at Welsh AT ALL and I’m very clearly still a learner but I got by and that was all I wanted to achieve right at that moment!)
Huge congratulations!
That’s an amazing achievement, not just getting through Challenge 3, Level 10 but conversing yn y Cymraeg for 2 hours. That takes massive skill and outstanding Welsh ears. I’m not there yet, but working on it.
Diolch yn fawr iawn
I just LOVE reading things like this - huge, huge congratulations to you, Kate - I’m so delighted that all your hard work has paid off so dramatically…
We’ve done some work with organisations - we’ve got a project going on with TUC Cymru at the moment, and stuff with Carmarthenshire Council and Wales&West Housing - but we’re not actively reaching out to other orgs at the moment, so it would be terrific if you’d be kind enough to nudge them…
I’d be delighted to give them a nudge, will keep you posted!
