Can anyone help me with a quick proofread?

I am writing up my 5 sentences for week 23, and I am wondering if my spelling and grammar is correct. (I don’t want to go on for weeks practicing the wrong thing!) I’m especially worried about the end, as I’m just guessing at the grammar. Can anyone give this a quick check to help me?

Dw’i isio dysgu Cymraeg achos dw’n meddwl bod mae’n ddiddorol. Ond well i mi ymarfer mwy i wella. Fedri di siarad Cymraeg efo fi? Dwi ddim yn cael digon o gyfle i siarad yn y Gymraeg. Dwi’n mynd i wella os di helpi fi.

Looks good, a couple of suggestions

  • Dw’i isio: no apostrophe needed here - "dw i " (or “dwi”)

  • achos dw’n meddwl: typo - “dw i’n…”

  • bod mae’n ddiddorol: either “ei bod hi’n ddiddorol” or “bo’ hi’n ddiddorol” (the “bod” here conveys “that is” so you don’t need the “mae”)

  • os di helpi fi: are you meaning to say “if you (will) help me”? If so, you need to flip the word order of the first pronoun and verb - “os helpi di fi” (or “os byddi di’n fy helpu i” - a little formal perhaps?)

Others on the forum may have other suggestions.

Pob hwyl!

Thank you for the feedback! Very helpful, especially with the explanations for the corrections.

I had been seeing it written in the transcripts and online as dwi’n…is that incorrect?

Dim problem!

No, “dwi’n” is fine. “Dw i’n” is a more ‘standard’ way of writing it but it is often written as “dwi’n”.

(In one of your sentences you’d missed the “i”.)
