We’ve talked about BestofWales.co.uk before, because they’re the only accommodation booking service I know of that allow you to choose a Welsh-speaking host - hugely useful for learners keen to use their Welsh…
And now, they’d like to lend a helping hand to SSiW, because they’re big fans of trying to encourage more people to learn - so they’ve set up a way for anyone who wants to support us to give us 5% of the cost of their holiday.
It doesn’t change the cost to you - it just means that if you book a stay that costs you £200 (for example), they’ll give us £10. Which would be nice!
If you’d like to do this, after you click on ‘Book now’ and then ‘Place booking’, on the page which asks for your address and payment details, you need to find the ‘How did you find us?’ drop-down box (just underneath your address details) - and choose ‘SaySomethinginWelsh’…
@Deborah-SSi [In fact, I think we could make this a regular bit in the email?]
Is this still applicable? Just booked a property in Llanymawddwy in October (Welsh speaking owner of course!) but I wasn’t asked at any point “How did you find us?”. I’ve fired off an email to let them know SSiW sent me there, but I’m wondering if this still applies.
Will do. I got an out of office auto reply to my original email. If I don’t hear within a day or two then I’ll have to chase it up.
I do know that if you make an enquiry (not actually booking) regarding a property, then you do get to say where you heard about BoW. SSiW is not on the list however, just a generic ‘word of mouth’ or ‘on the Internet’,with no opportunity to specify.
Sorry about the delay in posting regarding this. I have finally managed to get through to a real person at Best of Wales. Apparently, there’s no trace of my original email. The lady did say that the way in which recommendations were handled has changed, and she’s not sure whether Say Something in Welsh is still a part of it. She will pass my query on and they will get back to me next week, hopefully. I won’t give up!
Well the nice lady at Best of Wales got back to me today. I did not get an answer as to whether SSiW still get their 5%.They have knocked £35 off the cost of my holiday though. This makes me think they don’t understand the question.
Perhaps somebody connected with SSiW might make more headway. Sorry!
Yes, the offer still stands…
But they have had a new computer system, so Llion is going to check that it’s still working OK. In the meantime, he says an email saying you have booked because of SSiW will ensure that the money goes to our ‘cause’.
