After a number of false starts and false dawns (today’s challenge - write an essay on the differences, if any, between these concepts - only joking) it looks like we will really be moving to Cymru this year, hopefully within the next few months.
I am now actively looking for somewhere to buy in Gogledd Cymru (North Wales), and it pretty much needs to be in Y Fro Gymraeg (majority Welsh speaking area). I am ready to live daily yn Y Gymraeg, no going back now.
Whilst there are lots of lovely communities all over the Bro, and I will hope to spend time visiting many of them in my travels, I also have to be realistic about access to shops, public transport (it’s not always possible to depend on the car) and roads (for when I am using the car). The intersection of access to facilities, pleasant surroundings and genuine Welsh community means I am focussing on the Arfon area of Gwynedd. Pen Llyn and Meirionydd are lovely, too, but maybe a bit too off-the-beaten track for my current taste (who knows, I may want to go totally off grid in the future, just not yet).
Sometime soon, the number of Welsh Speakers living in Gwynedd will actually go up due to immigration from England, for once
