Bluesky now available through the medium of Welsh

If anyone’s using Bluesky, the much nicer replacement for Twitter, you can now do so with a Welsh language interface.

Just got to Settings, Language and select App Language as Welsh.

I have noticed a couple of minor mistakes in their translation, and will see if I can find a way to feed back on that, but it’s nice to be able to use another part of the web in Welsh.

It’s nice to see companies making the effort to translate into Welsh, but as you might expect there’s at least one mistake, and a couple of inconsistencies. I can feed back to them, but I wanted to check first, which of these options feels most natural:

Mae ‪Ian M‬ ad 1 arall wedi ailbostio eich postiad
Mae DDOwen wedi ailbostio’ch postiad

I’m tempted to advise them to stick with ailbostio eich in all cases, rather than use the contraction?

I’d generally expect a website interface to use standard formal language with few contractions.
But then, some people like their tech to seem “chatty” and “friendly”. :woman_shrugging:

Most of the text strings don’t use the contraction, so I think I’ll suggest to them that they stay consistent and not use it.
