Does anyone know of a purchasable (or freely downloadable) Welsh audiobook version of the Bible? Preferably William Morgan translation.
I have a couple of apps. They have various translations, and some have audio… but while you can choose to “download” the text for offline reading (it still stays in the app, it’s not plain text or ebook files) the audio only seems to work with an internet connection.
It is frustrating for me because I know the recording has been done. But I can’t find a way to listen to it offline.
As long as I’m connected to the internet, yes. It’s getting a version I can download that seems impossible.
It’s really weird. The 1955 print version also seems to have just… vanished. Nobody seems to be selling a copy. I know I’m weird, practically a dinosaur maybe. But I don’t really want apps and streaming and “Smart” this and that all the time. I want to have a physical book, and plain old mp3 files I can put on my very basic mp3 player, no wifi needed.
I honestly never imagined this would be a tall order, but it turns out it is!
I met a very kind Christian café/bookshop owner yn Llanbed, who was surprised yet delighted to meet a learner who wanted a BWM. He had no idea where to find a 1955 one with modern spelling… but we found “on display” above a fireplace in the back room, a massive, heavy, 1900 copy, which he gave me! It’s a little hard to read, and harder to carry, but it’s a beautiful gift. (I also bought a Beibl.net translation from him, since that’s supposedly best for learners. It’s much easier both to carry and to understand, but not half so poetic.)
As for audio… well, as long as I have an internet connection, I have several apps from which to choose. They go silent the second the WiFi goes off, however. In this house, the WiFi goes off a lot, and I have a very cheap phone plan with a very small monthly data allowance.
