My Automagic progress has stopped at about 170 hours as it now seems to be on a loop with no new material and same sentence being repeated over and over. What can I do to get back on track please?
@pete-20 are you using the AutoMagic prototype - automagic.saysomethingin.com - or the new app - SaySomethingin - or app.saysomethingin.com in a browser?
If youāre not getting any new material, then it sounds like youāre at the end, however, there has been some extra material added in the last couple of days. Log out, then log in again and see if that makes a difference.
Hi all, and THANK YOU for finally putting level 3 Southern Welsh on Automagic, itās really great.
Thought Iād report a little glitch. When Aron is saying the English on a few different things (it started 44% into Black belt with the word ātrustā being introduced) thereās just white noise, then it gives you the welsh as normal.
Hope that makes sense and is helpful. Thank you again for all your hard work.
Doug
Diolch Doug. Iāve passed that info through to the Tech Team.
Thanks Deb. I had one suggestion that I thought would be brilliant, and hopefully easy to implementā¦Automagic should allow you to switch between āspeakingā and ālisteningā mode. All listening mode would be is playing the two welsh lines first and the English line last. This comes from the fact that from using Automagic for ages my speaking is awesome, I can construct long sentences in my head very easily, but when I hear the welsh, my brain canāt translate back to English anywhere near as well. This would be the final piece in the puzzle and Iām sure people would love it. Hope thatās helpful, Doug
An interesting suggestion. We have the listening exercises with the Challenges, and Aran mentioned at one time that he had some ideas for incorporating listening tasks into the new app, but thereās a lot of other development needed before we get to that. Iāll pass your suggestion to the team. Diolch yn fawr!
Thanks very much for the idea, Doug, much appreciated!
Iāve grown to believe over the years that we need something faster-acting for listening - in a sense, what youāre describing would be a little too easy - but it might work (without the pause, which makes it a little trickier for us) as the beginning of a fuller approach to listening - which as Deborah says is something weāve got brewing in the thinking tanks at the moment⦠![]()
Ah thanks for your replies. I quite like the simplicity, and interestingly, the idea for this actually came from the glitch that I reported (where the English was just white noise), which meant that I just heard the welsh and had to the construct the English myself. I thought to myself, this is actually really useful! I also donāt see having a gap after the welsh as problematic, if anything it might be nice to have moment to construct the English in your brain. You could just decrease the gap length. I really think it would work, and would be little work for your IT team as presumably you could just write some code that says flip all welsh to English and reduce gap to a minimum. I never really got on with the listening exercises, I just think Automagic is so much better as a tool. Anyway, thanks again, and good luck with the amazing work youāre all doing.
Just noticed this evening that the sentences are repeating twice. This happens if I press the ārevisitā just once. If I leave the App and then return later the problem goes away
That was a design feature of the original Revisit functionality, but it wonāt be included in the update to Revisit and Skip, which is heading your way very soon ![]()
Hi all, thanks for your great work as always. As I approach the end of black belt, I wondered is there any more material planned soon for the south welsh? I really really hope so, Automagic is the best way to load new words and phrases,
Thanks all
Doug
We do hope to add to the Welsh courses in the future, or even create a new updated version, but for now, what some people find useful is to run through the Original course material. Some of it is revision, but there is a lot of new vocabulary there and alternative ways of saying things.
You can find it by going to Account => My Resources => Original Courses in the new app.
Roedd Fy āAutomagicā wedi mynd o le yn ddiweddar. Dyw hi ddim yn gweithio o gwbl, yn sownd mewn āloadingā ar y dechrau. Yr atebion arferol ddim yn gweithio hefyd, fel diffodd, neu allgofnodi wedyn mewngofnodi.ā My āAutomagicā had recently gone wrong. It doesnāt work at all, its stuck in āloadingā at the beginning. The usual solutions do not work as well, turning it off and like logging out then logging in.
@MikeMcK when you say āAutoMagicā are you talking about the AutoMagic prototype, the one that runs in a web browser and has Learning, Settings and Feedback at the bottom?
Or do you mean the latest SaySomethingin App with the coloured belt system?
Hello
I,m about 76 hours into Automagic and I do not seem to get any new phrase patterns introduced, is this a glitch or have I finished the available patterns. Does the old course include more and where should I start?
The latest SaySomethingin app contains more than the AutoMagic prototype, so your best bet is to download that. It should pick up from where you are in AutoMagic and continue from the same place, but if you need to adjust your position, click on Account, then My Languages, and use the pencil icon to select a different belt colour.
Hello Deborah, Iām using the web-based version of SSIW so presumably I can be assured everything is current and working as it should. Iām running Linux on my laptop .
@sally-19 as long as itās the browser version of the latest app - app.saysomethingin.com - then youāll be fine and youāll have the latest material.
