Asking for something

Can you please tell me how to ask for the bill in a restairant.
Is it — Ga i gael y bil ?

Ga i’r bil os gwelwch yn dda?

“ga i” is “may I have”, so you don’t need the extra ‘gael’, and “os gwelwch yn dda” is ‘please’ (although you could also just say “plîs”)

Diolch yn fawr.

As @siaronjames says, it’s “ga i’r bil…” because ga’i is literally “may I have”, but you will very often hear “ga’i gael y bil” too, from natural Welsh speakers, so what you said works naturally as well, even though technically it’s not quite right!

Diolch i chi hefyd

Alla i gael y bil? is also heard - a more direct translation from the English, and therefore perhaps (to some speakers) somewhat less Welsh in feel. Nevertheless, I’ve certainly heard plenty of native speakers say Alla i gael…? for Ga i…?
