Anyone fancy a holiday in Gwynedd?

Catrin’s asked me to share this message - we’ve always preferred to find a Welsh learner for this kind of thing, and we’re particularly biased about SSiW learners

Dear all,

Aran and I are looking for a house, dog, and cat sitter for approximately 10 days, from about the 18th of July to about the 5th of August. We’re planning a family holiday, but haven’t booked anything yet, so we still have some flexibility.

Whoever comes to stay will need to be familiar with dogs and cats, will ideally be a Welsh learner, and will ideally have access to a car - we do have buses that come up here from Caernarfon, but they’re not very frequent!

We live in a rural area on common land (where sheep and cattle roam freely) in an old one-story cottage with a stunning conservatory. We’re 10 minutes from Caernarfon (where our vet is located) and have one dog and two cats.

We’re also about 15 minutes from the nearest beach. Our large garden is wild and mature, filled with birds, and we often enjoy spectacular sunsets over the sea.

So if you’re an animal lover, and looking for an opportunity to spend time in one of the Welshest parts of Wales practising your Cymraeg, maybe this would be a great opportunity?

Also, if you’re an outdoorsy person who loves walking, breathtaking views, wildlife, dramatic old slate mines, peace, and some of the best stargazing, then you’ll love where we live.

We also have fibre-to-the-premises internet, providing an excellent connection. There’s a big-screen TV with access to Amazon, Netflix, Disney+, and Apple. We also have a lot of board games and books.

Our dog, Cynan, is a labXspaniel. He will be 1 year old in July. He is very affectionate and playful. He gets along well with other dogs and is great with kids. He is allowed on the furniture and enjoys sleeping on the bed when given the chance.

Our older cat, Nando (6 years old), is our daughter’s baby; our daughter suffers from anxiety, and the cat provides her with comfort. He is an outdoor cat who comes and goes as he pleases via the catflap. He is very affectionate and easy-going.

Our youngest cat, Mavis (1 year old in May), is sweet, playful and independent. She’s in the process of learning to go in and out on her own.

As you can imagine, we’re a little nervous about finding the right house-sitter, so we’re keen to get this right. And it’s equally important that whoever stays can enjoy the experience and feel they’ve had a really lovely holiday by the end of it.

If you’re interested and believe you’d be a fit, do please get in touch via private message to start a conversation.

Diolch all!
