Anglesey meet up

We are hoping to move to Anglesey soon, so I might be coming along at some stage when we have unpacked etc!

I’m going to be going on holiday to Trearddur Bay in Anglesey Sat March 25th until Sat 1st April.
Are there any Welsh speaking events nearby?
Or any welsh speaking practise groups nearby that I can join for a chat that week?
Or even anyone local that wants to meet to practise?
Any recommendations of things to visit in the area?

I’ll be coming from Scotland so want to practise as much Welsh as possible whilst there
Is the Thursday afternoon chat in the Gaerwen Arms still happening?

Hello.
Well done for learning Welsh when you live in Scotland. The Gaerwen Arms group are still meeting on a Thursday afternoon but I don’t attend now as I would call them Welsh speakers not learners. They are able to converse quite freely in Welsh. I speak Welsh and had taken my husband along as he’s learning.
We now go to a group, again 2 pm Thursday afternoon who meet at Oriel Môn, Llangefni and you would be welcome to come along. Just a word of warning though , both groups are just run by learners and we/ they consult each other via what’s app to check if anyone is going on the day. Usually there’s someone going.
There’s also a group who meet in Benllech in The Shed cafe, 10am Friday and Saturday mornings . Hope this helps you.

Hello, good to see these groups running. I’m moving to Anglesey this week with one reason to become fluent in Welsh! I look forward to participating at the various meetings.

I’ve completed all 3 levels a couple years ago and I’m going over them again now.

Thank you for the reply. Yes this helps massively thanks. Perhaps nearer the time if I message on here could you add me to the whatsapps (just for the week so I can check someone is going and address is correct etc)?

Really looking forward to practising

Wow that’s amazing! Bravo! I’m working on level 3 at the moment but hopefully will have finished it by the time I go to Anglesey.

@e-bonnick I am staying in Caernarfon for the next month. Is the Gaerwen arms group or Oriel Môn group still meeting in Thursdays at 2? I’d love to come to a meet up! Diolch yn Fawr!

I’m always happy to meet up with visiting learners for a weekday lunchtime panad a sgwrs at Galeri in Caernarfon if that’s any help - just let me know and we can arrange a day

I would love that! I could do Tuesday the 14th or Wednesday the 15th next week if that would work for you?

Great
Wednesday would be better for me. I usually take lunch between 12.30 and 1.30 but I could also do 1pm to 2pm if that suits you better.

@sarahwoodbury I’ll hover by the main door of Galeri at 12.30 tomorrow (Wed 15th). Don’t worry if you can’t make it though.

I’ll be there! I think you might not have been getting my messages since I just hit reply. See you soon.

It was lovely to meet you Sarah, I really enjoyed chatting and that hour went far too quickly!

Remember to try and get to one of Rhys Mwyn’s guided tours if you can - I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, and this is the book I mentioned about the exciting archaeology in Monmouth Amazon.co.uk

Our group use to meet in the Gaerwen Arms, but it is currently temporarily closed. We have therefore moved to the Tafarn y Rhos in Rhostrehwfa near Llangefni. We meet at 2:30 pm every Thursday. Do come and join us.

Glad to hear you are still going! I’ve been hoping to be able to join you at some point as I visit Ynys Môn quite often to visit my mum in Biwmares. Will let you know when I’m next there on a Thursday.

Hi - is anyone planning to be there this Thursday?

I’ll just turn up anyway in case anyone is around

Dan ni dal trio siarad Cymraeg, ond dan ni wedi symud! We now meet in the public cafe in Hafan Cefni, in Llangefni, most Thursdays at 1:30 pm. For those of you who do not know where Hafan Cefni is, it is next to Lidl. Good coffee, modern, quiet and the staff speak Welsh.

We had a good discussion last week about the new community hub in Llannerch-y-medd.

Give it a try, come and join us.

Diolch @AlanKennett ! I’ve added a link to this thread into the Post Pandemic Meetups so people can find it easily.
