¿Algo más?

Would “nada más “ be an appropriate response to “¿algo más? when I’m buying a coffee (and I don’t want anything else)

Gracias

Yes, and you can add gracias at the end if you want

Thanks Deborah, I did go ahead and use it anyway, before I got your reply, just to see, but I used the order “No gracias, nada más” instead and it worked okay.

That sounds lovely too! Muy bien! People do appreciate when tourists make the effort!

My Spanish is VERY rudimentary, but I’d learned, from a Get By in Spanish course, that sales assistants, after you’ve made a purchase, will then say (on the course cassette, this was spoken very slowly) “Algo mas?”. I did manage to ask for something in a very busy market, so was quite pleased with myself. I was then asked (what sounded like) a rapid “Ama?” (Algo mas, of course). Poor sales assistant had to repeat this a few times, the last time very slowly, until I understood. He wasn’t best pleased when I said I didn’t want anything else…
