After level 3

I have completed the 3 levels and have gone over some of the second level again. I wondered if there are are any plans for a fourth level and where to go from here. The course has been fantastic thanks

Well done on completing all 3 levels Martin
I don’t believe there are plans for a 4th level any time soon. But there are a couple of ways to go from here -

There is the Advanced Content exercises - have you had a go at them?

Some people, on completing level 3 in, say, Northern, have gone back to do the Southern version (and vice-versa).

With the level of Welsh you now have, basically just jump right in to using it as much as possible in all its forms - talk frequently (are you in the Slack WSP group?); listen to plenty of TV, radio and podcasts; start reading if you haven’t already; have a go at writing (maybe the Clwb Cardiau Post Cymraeg?).

But remember, you will always be part of the SSiW community, so do carry on using the forum for advice and support even for non-course stuff!

Hi @martin-powis

Congratulations! :champagne:

Personally I went on to the advanced content - I got a huge amount out of the listening and translating cycle.

This allows you to get to a point where you listen to a complicated conversation and (eventually) understand it completely - which felt like a major milestone…I did find this quite tough to be honest but I suspect, looking back that this also caused me to progress a lot…so no gain without pain

(…and having cut my teeth on the Advanced Content I did the same kind of listening cycle using Radio Cymru. )

I also read, trying to stick to books written in the spoken form…I also found the listening exercises from the old course great…I had a little listen to the old course as well…

…it’s an ongoing process of training your brain isn’t it.

I think lots of inputs are useful but I (personally) tried to get to grips with a small number at a time - so as not to confuse activity with progress!

…again personally I like to be able to do something where I can sense that I’m improving!

Do you have a route to practice speaking at the moment?

Rich

Though Aran would never recommend it, I would recommend the old courses too.

Huge congratulations, Martin! :star: :star2:

The absolute fastest way forward from where you are now is two-fold - it’s about getting into as many conversations as possible (www.saysomethingin.com/wsp) and it’s about pushing yourself through as much listening work as possible - ideally, it should have a transcript and a translation, which is what Beca produces in the Advanced Content section: https://www.saysomethingin.com/welsh/advanced

Hope this helps, a phob lwc gyda dy Gymraeg!
