Shwmae,
I just got an email saying the southern course had gotten a big update to its material and I was wondering where I’ll be able to find it? Will it be app only, or will it be integrated into the web version of automagic as well (as that is the version I predominantly use)?
Diolch pawb!
As far as I understand it, it will only be on the newest platform, i.e. the app, and while that can also be accessed through a web browser, it sounds like you are using the web-based Automagic prototype. If you check the URL, you can see which version you are using.
The “old” (prototype) version is accessed through automagic.saysomethingin.com , and the new version is found at app.saysomethingin.com

All the other languages have specific threads to raise issues with the material, but this thread here seems the closest match for the newly added Southern Welsh material. Maybe a moderator wants to create a thread and split this post off?
For the English prompt “They grow up more slowly these days”, the female voice says the correct Welsh sentence, but the male voice says “Felly mae eich mab chi yn ei dridegau” (while the correct sentence is displayed on the screen.)

It’s a short thread with relevant comments, so here’s a good place to post if anyone comes across any discrepancies. There was a lot of cutting and pasting and matching to get the sound files across, so there may be the odd blip like the one you’ve found @Hendrik
Post them here and I’ll pass them over to the Tech Team.

Aran introduces colli as the Welsh for to lose (which is of course correct), but then the subsequent English prompts all use the word in the context of to miss instead, which of course also translates to colli, and while I already know this, I feel that this could confuse other learners.

Hi @Hendrik. After investigating this, it seems the original audio file has gotten lost somehow, when it was recorded by the voice artist back a couple of years ago. Even in the original database on the course creation tool, the Welsh male voice recording for “maen nhw’n tyfu lan yn fwy araf y dyddiau ’ma” is in fact a recording of him saying “felly mae eich mab chi yn ei dridegau”. Short of engaging the original recording artist again to re-record this one sentence, we decided the best solution was simply to remove that one sentence from the course - so that’s what I’ve done. Thanks for bringing it to our attention
