Access to old material

Right, much as I love SSIW I am now driven nuts and am not getting any value out of my subscription.
I started a few years ago on what is now called ‘the classic challenges’. I dropped off for a while but continued to subscribe as I knew I would return.
On return I found the app had gone all fancy - fair enough, things move on. I thought I could find my approximate level in this brave new world of dojos and coloured belts (all of which is far too Duo Lingo for my liking). But I seem to have to start at the very beginning which would be pointless.
Eventually after some archaeology, I found the classic challenge material buried deep in the App menu. It had lost some of its functionality and I have to download the files individually but for a few weeks I was able to do this and enjoyed picking up again half way through level 2. This morning however the app won’t allow me to access anything beyond the first challenge in L 1.
SO FRUSTRATING! (And yes, that is me shouting in a juvenile manner).
Beth medru I wneud?

It sounds like you need to log yourself in on the challenge page, once you’ve done that tge other lessons and levels should be available

@gareth-59 I’ve checked your account and subscription, and all looks fine there, so it’s just a matter of being logged in correctly.

If you want to use the new app, you can go to Account, then My Languages and tap the pencil icon. Once it changes to an X, tap the coloured belt showing and you’ll get a selection of all the belts to choose from. Brown Belt is around Level 2 Challenge 9, so that would give you an idea.

If you want to continue with the Challenge audio files, you can either access them through the new app by going to Account then My Resources and finding Classic Challenges there, or by going directly to them on the website.

If you click on ‘Learn’ above, it takes you to the main learning website, and clicking ‘Learn’ there will give you the Classic Challenges. They’re all downloadable, so just click the link with each one to download them to your device and you have them for easy access, even if you’re offline.

If at any time you can’t seem to get past Challenge 1, that would indicate you’re not logged in to the website. You can do that at Login Here

I agree with you totally. I learnt with the old version which was great for dipping in at whatever level and repeating certain ones over and over.

I recently renewed my subscription but cancelled after one month. I’m not a martial arts afficianado, just a simple soul that likes lists numbered from 1 to 25.

I had wholeheartedly recommended this system to friends and couldn’t understand their disappointment until I sampled the updated version myself.

Such a shame.

IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT!

Thanks for your input, Jude and Gareth, and I’m sorry you don’t like the new approach.

It may not have been clear from a learner’s perspective, but there were a lot of problems with the old approach, and what we’re doing now helps us to solve a lot of things that were previously preventing people from succeeding with the approach - it worked fine for people with very strong working memories, but most people found it on the tough side of challenging. The new approach allows us to do much more to customise for a range of learner profiles, so we’re confident it’s going to let us help a lot more people - that’s certainly the intention, anyway

But the old files are all still available, as long as people are logged in

Thank you Deborah that was a very useful explanation.

Hi Aran, I’m sorry Jude and Gareth don’t like this system but I have to say I’m really enjoying it. I particularly like working my way through the belts and telling people that I’m a black belt. Well it’s true isn’t it?

I’m delighted to hear that, Ariana, and thank you so much for your kind words! I hope it keeps on going well for you
