Yeah, I was thinking ‘bookmark’ or maybe ‘burn on an open fire until there’s nothing left of it but ashes’… ![]()
We do need to promote the ‘Aran regretting he’d ever had this stupid idea in the first place’ session, though, it’s a fair call ![]()

Yeah, I guess it’s a bit too raw right now ha ha. But seriously, you can’t imagine how helpful this is. I had loads of sessions like that with the old Japanese course and the odd one with the Bulgarian course too and it’s so helpful to see it happening to others and not just me.
I know you do explain about mistakes being good and never letting it become too easy for us; but seeing is believing.
Also, you’re asking people to trust a method that is quite different from conventional ideas (as an EFL teacher, I know how poorly the conventional ideas work, but most people don’t) and so it’s very encouraging for people to see you practicing what you preach. If you show them you doing exactly what you ask them to do, it will make it much easier for them to (sorry for the cliche) trust the process.
Keep going!
You’re definitely softening the pain and suffering for me! ![]()
And yeah, agreed. I hope that showing it can be messy but still get you somewhere really enjoyable will be a real help.
[and luckily I’ve never really minded being bad at languages (since that was what I believed for the first 32 years of my life)

@aran I’ve posted the comment about “učiti” and “naučiti” on your Day 27 video. Go there and read it so that you’d learn properly.
And it’s not “iznenedžen sam” but “iznenadžen sam” you have to say “a” not “e”. Hear “iznenadžen …” We pronunce “a” like in the word “I” not “e” like pronunciation of the first letter of your alphabet.
I don’t really do YouTube! Don’t know where to find comments, I just hit publish and get out of there - but would be very grateful for your insights on uciti/nauciti!
Thanks for catching the mispronunciation ![]()
OK. I’m copying/pasting my comment there on here:
No. “naučiti” is something what you’ve already done and “učiti” is something you’re still doing. So “Koliko sam več naučio.” is something you’ve done already so don’t mix those. If they say “naučio” you have to say it and when they say “učio” you have to do that too. Don’t mix those or you won’t learn the way it should be.
That “No” at the beginning of the comment refers to your pondering thoughts if you should say just “učiti” where it should be “naučiti”
Hope it helps to understand the difference.
Oh, that’s super helpful, Tatjana, diolch yn fawr iawn! Nauciti was first introduced as ‘to master’ and I can kind of see now where that hiccup comes from - we definitely need to give a slightly clearer introduction. Diolch, this has really helped ![]()
Happy to help if and when I can.
Now boldly forward! You’re doing really well and you remember really a lot of things. Prompts are fast but as I see you’re a good and careful listener so it seams it doesn’t pose too much of a problem to you.
Also, watching your strem I’ve heard the listening exercises. Great addition so it should (I don’t know if it is actually) be done in all courses.
Great job so far!
Diolch! Yes, the listening exercises (which will be further fine tuned) are definitely coming to all courses, we’re working on that right now

Oh good heavens. Is it only me, or did that record without any sound?! ![]()
Sorry, but it is without sound. I went to YouTube to check but there’s without sound (my speakers and sound are on, though). Hmmmm … Surely you’re not willing to repeat this one just for sound recording sake I presume. ![]()
Yes, no sound today. Typical that it couldn’t have happened that day that you struggled! ![]()
Damn, stupid sound! I think I might have had my mobile set to ‘do not disturb’, that might have been it. Actually, it was quite a tough session, so it’s kind of a pity we didn’t get to showcase that ![]()
I’ve been watching a bit of today’s stream (live now), but I need to sleep now. I just wanted to say that you seem a bit tired today, but you’re still having noticeably less of a struggle to get the Croatian out compared with even a week ago.
That’s super interesting feedback, actually, thank you very much indeed - I do feel pretty knackered and pretty keen to sleep myself right now! And the new things still feel quite challenging, but there is definitely a larger bank of blink/easy stuff in there now. Still a bit nervous about how it’s all going to work out when I get into my first conversation!
