Hi Folks, in relation to the Englyn competition, how are we pronouncing the last syllable in ‘hynny’ please? Is it as ‘huhnee’ or ‘huhnuh’?
When a word has two ys, the first is pronounced ‘uh’ and the second ''ih" (think ‘mynydd’!) or ‘ee’ so hynny is pronounced ‘huhnee’. (If it was hwnna or honna, then it would sound more like ‘huhnuh’)

Yup, best to stick to formal pronunciations for competition stuff (while being aware that you’ll often hear ‘hynna’ in real life)…
