Hello. I’m 61, widowed 18 months ago, recently moved to Shaftesbury in Dorset and right now in the thick of house renovation. Obviously the perfect time to learn Welsh!

Seriously though - it’s time of huge change for me and I’m thinking a lot about what I want to do with the next phase of my life. I’m a good communicator in English but that’s it: I have never tried to learn another language beyond a smattering of phrase-book words when going abroad. Trying to learn a new language feels as if it will be good for my brain… and I have always liked a new challenge.

In addition, although I’m British by birth I have never felt that I had a positive cultural identity. But my mum is Cornish and my dad appears to have had roots in both the north east and Wales… so by learning Welsh I’m trying to connect with what I think of as an under-expressed Celtic aspect of my heritage. Oh, and I have always supported Wales in the Six Nations :sunglasses:

Here’s to becoming just a little bit more Welsh!
