Born in Wales but growing up in England, I had little exposure to the Welsh language until I went to university in Aberystwyth. Even then, I waited until my final year before trying to learn Welsh. Now, some years later, I am on my third attempt at learning the language, greatly encouraged and inspired by my first ever Welsh conversation “in the wild” at the Eisteddfod in Pontypridd.
My profile name is a (deliberate) misspelling of Ianto, my childhood nickname given to me by my dad.
